Buried Hearts Opening Week Story
Seo Dong-ju (Park Hyung Sik), the trusted right-hand man of Daesan Group’s Chairman Cha (Woo Hyun), becomes entangled in a deadly game of power, secrets, and betrayal.
With insider knowledge of the chairman’s deepest secrets—including confidential passwords and an illegitimate son—Dong-ju is at the center of the company’s most critical deals, including a risky political slush fund partnership with Yeom Jang-seon (Heo Joon Ho). However, his close relationship with Chairman Cha fuels silent resentment from the chairman’s ambitious family, particularly Huh Il-do (Lee Hae Young), who set his sights on leading the conglomerate.
Dong-ju’s personal life is just as complicated. Dong-ju almost married Chairman Cha’s granddaughter who lives in the US but after meeting Yeo Eun-nam, he changed his mind. They have been living together but he knows she is betrothed. To his surprise, Eun-nam is actually Chairman Cha’s granddaughter and he learns it on the day of her wedding to Yeon Jang-seon’s nephew.
Dong-ju discreetly gauges the board members’ support as tensions peak over the vice-chairman appointment. When Huh Il-do fails to secure the coveted endorsement, he turns to Yeom Jang-seon, setting off a sinister chain of events.
Lured to a secluded apartment, Dong-ju stumbles upon the gruesome murder of his senior and newly appointed vice-chairman. Before he can react, an ambush ensues. Fighting for his life, he overpowers the assailant—only for a ringing phone to reveal the true mastermind behind the attempt on his life.
With deception closing in from all sides, Dong-ju is left to uncover who he can trust in this high-stakes war for power.
Buried Hearts Opening Week Musings
Buried Hearts makes a striking debut with a polished, gripping narrative that, while dense in its early episodes, quickly proves to be an addictive watch. The drama masterfully blends high-stakes mind games with the ruthless money-driven world of the elite, keeping viewers on edge with its calculated twists and power struggles.
With a tightly woven plot, the series has already drawn clear battle lines between its heroes and villains, setting the stage for an intense war fueled by ambition, loyalty, and the pursuit of power. True to the SBS drama tradition of thought-provoking, character-driven storytelling, Buried Hearts delivers high-impact confrontations and psychological warfare that feel both grand and deeply personal.
While many dramas thrive on underdog narratives, it’s refreshing to see Seo Dong-ju as a protagonist with flaws—unyielding, strategic, and not overly forgiving. His anticipated clashes with formidable adversaries promise to be the driving force behind the drama’s edge-of-your-seat momentum.
Brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride through dangerous alliances and daring gambits as Seo Dong-ju navigates this treacherous landscape where every move could mean victory or downfall.
Will Dong-ju defy the odds stacked against him? Can he reclaim the love he lost amidst the chaos of power and betrayal?
