PRESS CONFERENCE: “Miss Night and Day” Promises Warm Messages On Aspirations and Reality

Actors Lee Jung Eun and Jung Eun Ji may differ in age, but they share a passionate dedication to their characters.

The dynamic duo depicts a character living a double life in Miss Night and Day, set to captivate viewers on Saturdays and Sundays.

On the afternoon of the 13th, a press conference for JTBC’s new weekend drama Miss Night and Day was held at the Ramada Seoul Sindorim Hotel. Director Lee Hyeong-min, along with actors Lee Jung Eun, Jung Eun Ji, and Choi Jin Hyuk, presented their work.

The series is a charming romantic comedy about Mi-jin, a job seeker who finds herself inexplicably aging by 30 years overnight, and a talented prosecutor who becomes intertwined with her day and night.

Director Lee Hyeong-min, known for acclaimed dramas like I’m Sorry, I Love You and Strong Girl Bong Soon, leads the project. He described the drama as a heartfelt comedy grounded in Mi-jin’s (Jung Eunji) aspirations and reality.

Director Lee explained, “Mi-jin is the protagonist, and after she becomes a civil servant, there’s a line where her mother says, ‘My daughter is talented and smart, and I’m glad she’s pursuing what she wants to do.’ Mi-jin, who had numerous talents but struggled to find a job, represents many young people today. I hope the drama offers them hope.”

In the drama, Lee Jung Eun and Jung Eun Ji play Lee Mi-jin’s dual roles: a 50-year-old public intern by day and a 20-year-old job seeker by night, experiencing rejuvenation and aging daily.

Jung Eun-ji expressed her excitement about playing a dual role, especially alongside Lee Jung Eun. She felt it was a great learning opportunity and enjoyed the unique challenge.

She also mentioned the show’s message: “Even as we age, if we maintain a youthful spirit, we can live life to its fullest. I found that inspiring and want to live that way too.

Lee Jung Eun shared her thoughts, saying, “Although I am in my mid to late 50s, I still feel young at heart. In the drama, Mi-jin faces despair and desires to become someone else, a moment many can relate to. I wanted to offer comfort and empathy during such difficult times.”

Both actors worked hard on their speaking styles to convincingly portray their dual roles. Lee Jeong-eun, who used a Busan dialect for family scenes, collaborated closely with Jeong Eun-ji to ensure consistency in their performances. They even practiced dancing together, with Lee Jeong-eun admiring Jeong Eun-ji’s skills and dedication.

Choi Jin Hyuk, who plays Gye Ji-woong, a prosecutor entangled with both Mi-jin and Lim Soon, praised the actors’ seamless portrayal of their roles. He noted the surprising similarities in their performances, adding to the show’s authenticity.

Choi also shared his experience working on the drama, highlighting the director’s encouragement and support as pivotal in his decision to join the project.

Catch the premiere of Miss Night and Day on June 15 at 10:30 PM on JTBC.
