KBS2 TV’s new series, Fantasy Sonata acquaints viewers with the four lead characters in their respective posters.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, Fantasy Sonata blends fantasy, history, drama and romance as it traverses the story of a man with two conflicting personalities and the woman who loves him in a refreshing affection and fierce obsession.
In Fantasy Sonata, Yeonwol (Hong Ye Ji) hides her identity and becomes an assassin to avenge her family. While trying to assassinate the king, she falls into a trap set by someone and wakes up the next day with no memory of her life. Thereafter, she is appointed as the crown prince’s concubine.
The crown prince, who has two completely opposite personalities, deals with her, revealing his different ways of anger and love towards her.
Fantasy Sonata foreshadows the turbulent and heartbreaking story of a prince with two personalities and a concubine who is faced with an inevitable choice.

In the released character image, Park Jihoon shows the varying charms of the gentle and warm Prince Sajo-hyun and the fatal charm of Ak-hee. Notably, the two contrasting color moods, white and black, represent two personalities coexisting in one man’s body.
Next, Hong Ye Ji plays the role of Yeonwol, who goes from being a member of the assassin group to unknowingly becoming the crown prince’s concubine, Eunhyobi. She overwhelms everyone’s attention with her gorgeous red clothes and charismatic expression. The phrase on her poster: ‘I will take your life’ makes us guess at the heartbreaking narrative of her as the royal descendant of a fallen dynasty, sharpening her blade for revenge.
Hwang Hee, who plays the role of King Yung, the crown prince’s half-brother with deep ambitions, and Ji Woo, who plays the Crown Princess Geumhwa, who will be at the center of the palace’s secret struggle, also boast a strong aura.
The texts on their posters express their inherent desires and make people look forward to how their relationship becomes more intensely intertwined.
The production team said, “We wanted to reveal the desires of the characters through the strong colors and symbolic phrases that make up the character poster. In particular, we used color contrast to show the change of actor Park Ji-hoon, who will challenge himself to play two roles and show the perfect temperature difference between Sa Jo-hyun and Ak-hee. We hope viewers will wait for the broadcast while inferring the stories of the characters in the poster.”
Fantasy Sonata is scheduled for January 2024 airing following The Matchmakers.
