JTBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday series, The Good Bad Mother kickstarts presence with the latest updates!
Announcing its official launch on April 26, the series also presents its main cast.
Ra Mi Ran, Lee Do Hyun and Ahn Eun Jin are set to decorate the small screen with a therapeutic story brimming with laughter in The Good Bad Mother.
In charge of the production is Director Shim Na-yeon of Beyond Evil and At Eighteen fame. Penning the script is Writer Bae Se Young who worked on films Life is Beautiful, Extreme Job, and Intimate Strangers to name a few.
The series follows the story of a single mom who has been widowed at a young age, Young-soon runs a pig farm, and raises her son Kang-ho by herself. She becomes a “bad mother” – hard on her son because she doesn’t want him to grow up penniless or powerless.
Thanks to her discipline, Kang-ho grows up to be a prominent prosecutor, but loses his memory due to an unfortunate accident and becomes a 7-year-old again. Young-soon decides to become a “bad mother” again for Kang-ho in this comforting and touching comedy series that tracks the journey of recovery between mother and son.
Meet The Cast of The Good Bad Mother
Ra Mi Ran plays Yeong-soon, a bad mother who has lived a tenacious life to protect her children. She, who raised her son alone while running a pig farm, took on the role of a bad mother in order not to pass on her pain.
Lee Do Hyun transforms into Choi Kang-ho, a prosecutor who met an unexpected accident and lost his memories. He turned away from his mother and thoroughly ran for success, but he became a child overnight and lived a new life with a bad mother.
Next, Ahn Eun Jin plays Lee Mi-joo, Choi Kang-ho’s old friend and only refuge. She has a strong personality and can’t stand injustice. She returns to her hometown and faces a change when she reunites with Choi Kang-ho.
Yoo In Soo is a troublemaker in the village and a pure macho, Bang Sam-sik. He is expected to inject pleasant energy into the series.
Meanwhile, reliable character actors Jung Woong In and Choi Moo Sung play the roles of Oh Tae-soo, a prosecutor and member of the National Assembly who dares to run for the next presidency; and Song Woo-byeok, the chairman of Woobyeok Group, respectively.
Portraying the village people are Seo Yi Sook as Ms. Park, Sam-sik’s mother; Kim Won Hae as Lee Jang, the town’s leader; and Mr. Bang Jang Won Young as Sam-sik’s father.
Also acting as residents of the village are Baek Hyun Jin, an eccentric composer with the ambition to build a large-scale concert hall in his hometown; Hong Bi Ra as Oh Ha-young, Tae-soo’s only daughter and Kang Mal Geum as Mi-joo’s mother, Ms. Jung.
Child actors Park Da On and Ki So Yu suit up as twins Seo-jin and Ye-jin who will be friends with Kang-ho.
The production team of The Good Bad Mother promises a pleasant and warm healing comedy when the series premieres.
The Good Bad Mother premieres on April 26 and will run for 14 episodes. International fans can watch it on Netflix.
