Channel A’s newest drama, My Lovely Journey, promises healing, growth, and breathtaking scenery.
My Lovely Journey follows an ex-idol-turned-travel reporter, who’s always lived in the background. She discovers true success and the meaning of life by going on journeys commissioned by others.
Acquainting viewers with its main leads, the production team shared character teasers of Gong Seung Yeon and Yoo Jun Sang.
The newly released stills showcase Gong Seung Yeon in complete sync with her character Kang Yeo-reum—a travel reporter of five years with layers of charm. In the first image, dressed in a crisp sky-blue shirt and holding a mic, she beams brightly in front of the camera. Her fresh visuals, set against a clear, vibrant backdrop, exude an uplifting energy. Her poised demeanor and focused expression reflect the confidence of a seasoned reporter, while her gentle smile delivers a sense of calm and comfort.
A more relaxed behind-the-scenes shot captures Yeo-reum’s everyday life on location. With her casual styling and easygoing smile, her natural warmth and down-to-earth energy come through, making viewers feel instantly at ease.
The final still captures the essence of the drama’s theme—‘vicarious travel.’ With a serene blue landscape in the background, Yeo-reum trades her mic for a practical backpack and crossbody bag, signaling a shift into travel mode. Her face glows with a mix of excitement and quiet anticipation, hinting at the new adventures and personal growth that lie ahead. As someone who has faced the struggles of her idol past and carved out her own path with determination, Yeo-reum’s journey through commissioned trips adds depth to the anticipation.
The production team shared, “Gong Seung-yeon brings Kang Yeo-reum to life in a more nuanced and compelling way than we imagined. Her unique charm and expressive performance will offer viewers both healing and heartfelt emotion. You won’t want to miss it.”
Visually, the series is a feast for the eyes. Shot across some of the most scenic locations in Korea and abroad, it brings a travel-documentary quality into the drama space. From the historic grace of Buyeo, to the breezy shores of Pohang, the cultural charm of Jinju, and even the postcard-perfect landscapes of Hokkaido, Japan, the show captures the wanderlust of viewers with every sweeping frame. Whether you’re craving a beach escape or a quiet walk through nature, the camera invites you to experience each place as if you were really there.
Next, Yoo Jun Sang embodies grit and heart as entertainment CEO Oh Sang-sik.
The newly released stills spotlight Yoo Jun-sang fully immersed in his role as Oh Sang-sik, the head of Ogu Entertainment—a man shaped by a winding life path. His layered past as both a boxer and a manager comes through in his grounded demeanor and steely resolve, hinting at the inner resilience that has helped him survive the cutthroat world of showbiz.
According to the production team, “Yoo Jun-sang brings incredible depth and charisma to Oh Sang-sik, crafting a multidimensional character through his thoughtful interpretation and refined acting.” They added, “He masterfully captures Sang-sik’s complex charm—a man hardened by reality on the outside but full of warmth and unshakable dreams within. His performance is sure to leave a lasting impact.”
Lastly, Kim Jae Young rounds out the trio as Lee Yeon-seok, a talented but emotionally reserved aspiring film director who forms a special connection with Yeo-reum. Yeon-seok may have the resume of a textbook elite—an engineering degree from a top university and a job at a major corporation—but he chose to leave it all behind to chase his true passion: filmmaking. Now a film student once again, he’s an aspiring director navigating a creative slump. At first glance, he comes off as gruff and aloof, but beneath that exterior lies a surprising depth of emotion and quiet determination. With a heart that’s soft through and through, Yeon-seok’s charm lies in his unexpected warmth and unwavering dedication to his dream.
Featuring top-tier cast, meaningful storytelling, and universal themes of identity and second chances, My Lovely Journey is shaping up to be a must-watch this summer.
