The hit military comedy New Recruit, known for its realistic yet humorously absurd take on military life, is making a long-awaited return with its third season.
KT Studio Genie announced on the 28th that New Recruit 3 will premiere on Genie TV and ENA on the 7th of next month.
Originally starting as a YouTube animation before transitioning into a live-action series, the drama gained popularity, with season 2 concluding with a 3.6% viewership rating in 2023.
Returning after two years, season 3 will follow Park Min-seok (Kim Min Ho), a clueless yet untouchable “military spoon” whose father is a division commander, as he faces the challenges of becoming a sergeant. Familiar faces such as Choi Il-gu (Nam Tae Woo), platoon leader Oh Seok-jin (Lee Sang Jin), and poker-faced Im Da-hye (Jeon Seung Hoon) will return, joined by new recruits and the reappearance of last season’s antagonist, Sung Yoon-mo (Kim Hyun Kyu).
Director Min Jin-ki teased that the new season will deliver an even richer blend of situational comedy and unpredictable military mishaps, making for an exciting and entertaining watch.
