Can love rekindle after years of separation? Can long-buried dreams and emotions find a way back into our lives?
Melo Movie invites viewers to embark on a heartfelt journey of love, ambition, and self-discovery as it premieres on February 14.
The newly unveiled trailer offers a cinematic glimpse into the intertwined fates of four young individuals who must navigate love and dreams while facing the ghosts of their pasts.
Melo Movie is the emotional reunion between Ko Gyeom, a passionate cinephile turned film critic, played by Choi Woo Shik (A Killer Paradox, Parasite), and Kim Mubee, an aspiring director with a complicated history, portrayed by Park Bo Young (Daily Dose of Sunshine, Strong Girl Bong Soon). Once deeply connected, their love was torn apart by an unforeseen incident that forced them to go their separate ways.
Years later, fate intervenes as Gyeom moves into the apartment next to Mubee, bringing back unresolved feelings, lingering tensions, and long-lost dreams. As they grapple with old wounds and fresh emotions, will they find a way to rewrite their love story, or are they destined to remain in each other’s past?
Beyond Gyeom and Mubee’s rekindled connection, Melo Movie also explores the evolving relationship of another pair—Hong Si-jun, an aspiring musician and Gyeom’s closest friend, played by Lee Jun-young (Mask Girl, Badland Hunters), and Son Ju-a, Si-jun’s ex-girlfriend, played by Jeon So Nee (Parasyte: The Grey, Our Blooming Youth). Once young lovers, their paths diverged when life pulled them in different directions.
However, years later, Ju-a unexpectedly reappears, now a screenwriter, with a request that stirs up the past—she wants Si-jun to compose music for a screenplay she wrote about their love story. As Si-jun struggles with whether to revisit old memories through music, the two must confront the lingering emotions that remain between them.
Bringing this emotionally rich story to life is a powerhouse creative team. Director Oh Choong-hwan, known for his magical touch in Hotel del Luna and Start-Up, collaborates with Our Beloved Summer writer Lee Na-eun to craft a narrative that beautifully captures the essence of youth—the exhilaration of love, the weight of past regrets, and the bittersweet journey of growing up. With its breathtaking cinematography, immersive storytelling, and deeply relatable characters, Melo Movie promises to deliver an experience that resonates long after the credits roll.
As the characters navigate love, heartbreak, and personal growth, Melo Movie asks an essential question: Can second chances heal the scars of the past, or do some wounds remain forever? This Valentine’s Day, prepare to be swept away in a story of love, longing, and new beginnings.
Mark your calendars—Melo Movie premieres on February 14, only on Netflix.
