Go Hyun Jung Leads Star-Studded Cast in New Genie TV Drama

Joining the premier actress is a talented cast including Ryeoun, Yoon Sang Hyun, and newcomer Lee Jin Woo.

The series, 나미브 Namib (LT) which will premiere later this year, tells the story of a disgraced star producer and her long-shot trainee as they embark on a journey to create a new star.

Namib delves into the challenges faced by those in the entertainment industry, exploring themes of resilience, determination, and the pursuit of dreams. With a strong cast and a promising storyline, the series is generating significant anticipation among viewers.

Set to premiere in the latter half of 2024, Namib (written by Eom Sung-min, directed by Han Sang-jae, and produced by KT Studio Genie, SLL, and Studio Woo Young-soo) tells the compelling tale of a once-prominent star producer, Kang Soo-hyun, and a long-term trainee, Yoo Jin-woo, as they embark on a star-making project.

Go Hyun Jung, known for her powerful screen presence, takes on the role of Kang Soo-hyun, a former co-CEO of Pandora Entertainment who was unceremoniously fired. Despite her dismissal, Kang Soo-hyun remains a formidable figure, driven by her unique philosophy and keen intuition for nurturing idols. Her journey is not just about reclaiming her career but also about caring for her disabled son, portraying a life that mirrors the harshness of a barren desert. Fans are eager to see the actress bring this complex, resilient character to life.

Joining her is Ryeoun, who steps into the shoes of Yoo Jin-woo, a trainee at Kang Soo-hyun’s company. Despite a decade of training and numerous personal setbacks, including family debt and a faltering career, Yoo Jin-woo hasn’t given up on his dreams. Just as he’s about to let go, Kang Soo-hyun re-enters his life, reigniting his hopes with the promise of stardom.

Yoon Sang Hyun adds depth to the cast as Shim Jun-seok, Kang Soo-hyun’s husband. A former music producer who became a full-time homemaker after their son’s injury, Shim Jun-seok finds himself drawn back into the music world as his wife’s ambition reignites. He eventually becomes Yoo Jin-woo’s producer, and viewers are eager to see the dynamic interplay between Yoon Sang-hyun’s character and the rest of the cast.

Making his serious acting debut, Lee Jin Woo portrays Shim Jin-woo, the son of Kang Soo-hyun and Shim Jun-seok. Despite losing his hearing in a childhood accident and enduring bullying at school, Shim Jin-woo possesses a resilience that belies his fragile appearance. Lee Jin-woo’s portrayal of this multifaceted character is one of the show’s most anticipated elements.

Namib promises a compelling blend of experienced and emerging talent, offering a narrative that speaks to anyone who has faced setbacks but continues to chase their dreams. The relationship between a mentor with a heart as empty as the desert and a mentee struggling to stay afloat will resonate deeply, offering a message of hope and renewal.

The series will be available on Genie TV, Genie TV Mobile, and ENA in the second half of 2024, and it is already shaping up to be one of the year’s must-watch dramas.
