My Demon is ready to charm fans with its contract marriage story between a woman with a devilish attitude and a real devil.
Earlier, a drama presentation was held with the lead stars and production team at the SBS building in Seoul.
My Demon follows the contract marriage between the devilish conglomerate heiress and the demon who lost his powers. It is a contract with the devil that gives finite happiness yet leads to hell.
A soul-securing salvation romance with a sweet but dangerous devil brings a whole new level of excitement to this new fantasy romance series.
Kim Yoo Jung plays Do Hee, an heiress to a chaebol group who does not trust anyone and falls in love with the devil. Although she is harsh on the outside, she is soft on the inside, and although she looks delicate, she is a strong person.
Song Kang plays the role of Jung Gu-won, a flawless and deadly demon. Having reigned as a top predator for over 200 years while belittling humans, he becomes entangled with Do-hee and suddenly loses his abilities. He must protect her to prevent extinction.
“My Demon” Predicts A Sweet and Dangerous Contract Marriage Between Kim Yoo Jung and Song Kang
Director Han’s Creative Process For My Demon
Explaining the overview of the series, Director Kim Jang-han hints at what to anticipate in the story.
“It tells the story of a devil-like woman, Do Do-hee, and a real devil, Jung Gu-won, who meet and enter into a contract marriage. It was a relationship based on necessity, but through various incidents, it is a drama in which the devil and the human understand each other.“
As MBC has another drama airing at the same time slot based on the same contract marriage theme, questions about the uniqueness of My Demon was raised.
Director Kim Jang-han asserts the lead stars’ visuals were presented in the most engrossing way.
“It’s difficult to make an exact comparison because we haven’t seen the other work yet. Ours has stronger fantasy elements. Since Gu-won is a transcendent being, the dramatic elements will be stronger. The actors are portrayed in a very cute and lovely way. That’s all.“
Notably, the director expounds on his familiarity with the romantic comedy genre and assures the effort poured into My Demon.
“There are a lot of scenes where the two fight in the beginning. The verbal fight was done very well. There are points in the middle that make me feel excited. Outside of acting, we paid a lot of attention to the OST. I think it’s a good mix of spontaneity coupled with the actors’ chemistry.”
Song Kang’s Preparation For His Role and Working Together With Kim Yoo Jung
Song Kang plays the fatally attractive Jung Gu-won. Regarding his synchronization with his character, the actor responds about 65%. He also relays how acting as Gu-won has had him at the highest level of self-love.
When asked if he ever looked at himself in the mirror and thought he was perfect, Song Kang adorably quipped, “In the beginning, when I dieted a lot, I thought I was ‘perfect,’ but now that filming is over, I’ve gained about 10 kg. So, it’s a no.“
The actor is also grateful for the opportunity to work with Kim Yoo Jung.
“Kim Yoo Jung is a very nice senior, so she always guided me well. I had a lot of concerns about how to express Gu-won well, but she approached me first, asked me, and solved it. The chemistry followed naturally. By presenting more ideas, more interesting scenes were completed.”
Kim Yoo Jung Shares About Cast Synergy and Role Preparations
Conveying her thoughts about working together in a pleasant filming environment.
“Because the preparation period was short, filming took place without time to get close. It was awkward when we first met, but we became closer as we analyzed and talked about the script. We naturally became comfortable and started to work well together. We had a lot of fun joking around while filming. Director Han was also very playful, so the scene was constantly full of laughter with jokes.”
As Do-hee and Gu-won met as immature people, there were also questions about how the two would grow and develop an extraordinary connection.
“What we focused on was Do-hee and Guwon meeting and growing together. Since humans cannot fully mature, Do-hee also tries to become a perfect CEO, and Gu-won thinks that he knows a lot and lives well, but that is not the case. As we get to know each other and learn about the world, we learn from it.“
My Demon premieres at 10 PM on November 24. International fans can watch it on Netflix.
