“Welcome To Samdalri” Introduces Ji Chang Wook As Passionate Weather Forecaster
This is a work that is expected to bring warmth to weary hearts as it tells the story of friendly people living together in the clean, local area of Samdalri.
Ji Chang Wook was also greatly fascinated by this point and revealed the reason for choosing the series and described his character, Yong-pil.
“Welcome to Samdalri has small fun and warm emotions between friends and family. Those things are attractive and I think it will warm up the viewers. Yongpil is affable and compassionate. He was born and raised in Samdalri and works as a forecaster at the Jeju Meteorological Administration.“
He stubbornly clings to accurate weather forecasts for the ajussi divers and fishermen whose jobs are directly related to life. This part represents his warm heart, caring for the people of his hometown more than anyone else. It is also famous as a specialty of Jeju Island, where village parties and events are held in the neighborhood, and people visit and sing Cho Yong-pil’s songs passionately and entertain the elderly.
Sam-dal is a partner with whom he wants to share his warm heart. She left their hometown but came back with a broken heart. The two, who have been together as a set for 30 years and separated for 8 years, meet again in Samdalri, the place where it all began, and are planning to write a new chapter in the history of their relationship.
Ji Chang Wook further discussed the relationship between Yong-pil and Sam-dal.
“If Sam-dal is a dragon born from a stream, Yong-pil is the person who wants to be her stream.”
To maximize the charm of this character, Ji paid attention to being natural and comfortable. Same goes for how his character interacts with Sam-dal.
“I put less effort into styling things like hair and clothes. Because Yong-pil is a person who protects and looks after Sam-dal, I paid special attention to her reactions.”
Relaying his excitement about working with Shin Hye Sun, the actor generously poured praise on the female lead.
“She is an actress whose image suited Sam-dal so well, so I had trust and confidence in her. She was cheerful and fun, so I expected there would be synergy if we worked together. Shin Hye Sun is attractive and has confidence in herself.”
Lastly, Ji Chang Wook talks about an interesting episode and invites viewers to watch the series.
“I happened to film at a famous dolphin spot, and in fact, I said it’s not easy to see dolphins that often. But I was lucky enough to see a dolphin, and it was so pretty and amazing. I think the dolphins gave me good energy. I hope viewers will have a warm and pleasant year-end with ‘Welcome to Samdalri’, which is full of such energy.”
