Strong Girl Nam Soon Opening Week Story
Kang Nam-soon (Lee Yoo Mi) got lost in Mongolia when he was brought by her father Bong-go (Lee Seung Joon), whose hobby is photography, and wanted to share special memories with her.
The unfortunate event led to his divorce from Geum-ju (Kim Jung Eun) as he couldn’t make up for the disappointment, he had for her who wanted to protect her bloodline.
Fortunately, Nam-soon was found by a nice couple who did not hide how she came to them. She also starts to have clues of where she could be hailed from the dress she wore when she was found and through watching Korean videos.
Later, some of her memories resurface and she remembers her name and her roots. She tells her adopted mother of her plan to go to Korea when she gets older and has earned enough money.
“I’m going to find the purest man in the world. A man I wish to protect. I will find him no matter what in Korea.”
Eager to find her missing daughter, Hwang Geum-ju (Kim Jung Eun) picks her assistant’s idea to have a contest to find the strongest woman around her daughter’s age.
Unknown to her, there are conspirators who planted a woman to pose as Nam-soon.
Back in Mongolia, the couple who took care of Nam-soon sold all the sheep they had to finance Nam-soon’s trip to Korea.
But on the flight, she encountered a problem. Thanks to Nam-soon’s unique strength and speed ability, she helped the aircraft land without trouble.
Receiving a tip of drugs to be sneaked on the same flight that Nam-soon took, Kang Hee-sik (Ong Seong Wu) had to check on some items from Nam-soon’s bag. Learning her goal to find her mother, he promised to help her.
“I waited 10 years for this trip to Korea caring for our sheep and saving up money. I studied Korean every day for five hours and dreamed of coming here every night.”
Unfortunately, Nam-soon got scammed on the accommodation she already paid upfront. She leaves her information to one of the police officers who later tells Hee-sik about her situation. Returning to her camping space, she finds a homeless couple who eventually grow on her. They also share information on where to get free meals.
To make Nam-soon’s situation worse, the ger she set up at Han River Park for her and the couple met a problem with citizens who think it is not good for the park.
Feeling lost for a series of unfortunate events, her police-in-shining-handsomeness, Hee-sik, arrives to give comfort and assures her he will do as he promised to help find her mom.
Lending her some money, she also tips her to get a passport photo at her father’s photo studio so they can fix her passport soon.
Strong Girl Nam Soon Opening Week Musings
An upgraded superpowers make our newest female lead worth keeping tabs on in Strong Girl Nam Soon. In two episodes, we get the projected story of how drugs would be incorporated along with the captivating orientation of the characters.
We love how this new narrative from the well-loved female superhero story made an interesting twist and boldly asserted their uncanny abilities.
Narrated in an entertaining vibe, being hooked to mark this series on your watchlist is easy. It has so far, a confident storytelling that matches the characters’ persuasive portrayals.
Individual stories abound in the character introductions as we are given the motivations of Geum-ju to eradicate the heightening drug concern with her literal strength and financial power. Her intention would entwine her eventually to the police, especially Hee-sik who will lead her to her ultimate dream of finding Nam-soon.
That or Nam-soon finds her mother accidentally by pawning her golden wand when she faces another misfortune, which is highly possible since the girl posing to be Nam-soon could have picked up she’s the long-lost daughter.
Romance is definitely on the horizon for Nam-soon, and we can already feel the sparks are positive with Hee-sik. Of course, she has to be responsible for seeing his private dance in his neon underwear. Closing the door for Nam-soon’s parents to get back is unacceptable. We deserve more of their romantic interlude.
Challenging his villain role, we can deduce that Byeon Woo Seok has prepared well for his role as Ryu Shi-oh. His menacing face already gave the warning of the havoc he would wreak.
Root for Nam-soon’s dream of reuniting with her family and finding the man she wants to protect and marry in Strong Girl Nam Soon on JTBC! International fans can watch it on Netflix.
