Along with the released main poster, Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon shares more details about the story and characters.
Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon (LT) broadens the worldview of the 2017 JTBC hit series Strong Girl Bong Soon. It is regarded as the first series to feature the first female superhero in a Korean drama.
The spinoff focuses on a drug crime story in Gangnam among Bong-soon’s relatives: cousin Nam-soon and her mother Geum-ju and grandmother Joong-gan.
In the drama, Kim Jung Eun portrays Geum-ju, a well-off mother who has lived a life burning with a sense of justice. She has obsessively done good things with a driven attitude to find her lost daughter.
Squid Game star and rising actress Lee Yoo Mi plays Nam-soon, Geum-ju’s daughter in the story. Seasoned actress Kim Hae Sook suits up as Nam-soon’s grandmother Gil Joong-gan. All of them have the super-strength ability passed on from their ancestors on the mother’s side.

Subsequently, the main poster predicting a heated war between villains has been released. It stimulates curiosity about their face-to-face play, which goes back and forth between comedy and thrill.
It amplifies curiosity with a rip-off visual reminiscent of The Avengers. First, the sight of Kang Nam-soon who is swinging a light punch with her confident smile, steals attention. What will her performance look like as she blows away villains with only her bare fists?
Next, the charisma of Hwang Geum-ju on a motorcycle is also overwhelming. Expectations are heightened by the pleasure that will come from her high-speed sprint as Gangnam’s Batgirl.
Meanwhile, her maternal grandmother, Gil Joong-gan vaunts extraordinary force, worthy of being a living legend of Majang-dong. Her power contrasted with her cheerful expression adds to the curiosity.
The appearance of hot-blooded detective Kang Hee-sik (played by Ong Seong Wu) and cool villain Ryu Shio (played by Byeon Woo Seok) is also interesting. While Kang Hee-sik, holding a pistol, shows his inner passion for justice, Ryu Shio’s unreadable eyes spell trouble.
Added to this, Nam-soon’s family statement, “We are here to beat up the ‘weak’ guys!” raises expectations for the thrilling confrontation between those who will break down the new drug crime that is penetrating Gangnam.
JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama Strong Woman Kang Nam Soon will premiere at 10:30 pm on October 7.
