The Uncanny Counter 2 Episodes 3 and 4 Highlights
Pil-gwang enters the noodle shop and So-mun sees him. They sit across each other and start assessing each other’s power. But the psychokinetic face off ends in a draw. They both realized how strong the other is.
Meanwhile, Motak is training Jeok-bong when he heard Joo-seok stealing a fire truck. It turns out, Joo-seok wanted to kill CEO Park. He corners the bus carrying him in the tunnel and tries to kill CEO Park. Mo-tak just arrive in time to talk him out of it. As a result, Joo-seok was put behind bars.
So-mun rushes to meet him, only to see a man regrets not being able to take revenge for his wife and child. He tells So-mun not to come back. So-mun feels so sorry for him but can’t do anything.
“You have so many things you need to protect.”
Jang-mul brings the Counters to their new location as the noodle shop has been compromised. They are all so happy to see how wonderful their new place is. There is a juke box, a boxing ring, and even a new pair of outfits too. They change into their new costumes and prepare for a round of training.
So-mun explains to them how strong and fast Pil-gwang is so they really have to be on their toes. Sadly, everyone gets beaten up by So-mun but Ha-na is not ready to give up yet. She continues to fight So-mun until she lands one punch. That’s when she stops and everyone applauds her.
Ma Joo-seok is taken to an isolation room after a fight with others. Alone, he decides to take his own life to follow his wife, but an evil spirit arrives and takes over his body. The next day, Jeok-bong is following Ha-na on a run when he tells her to stop for a moment while he gets an ice cream.
While waiting, she hears a piano playing and remembers something from her past. Then, she soon sees, the man from her memory standing in front of her.
Jeok-bong returns and while approaching, he falls and ends up with a nosebleed. This causes him to smell something bad. He thinks it is coming from the man in front of him but it comes from the evil spirit that entered the piano academy.
Ha-na takes care of the evil spirit. Finally, Jeok-bong discovers his powers and is so proud of himself. The next day, Jeok-bong continues to show his power by leading the team to some place where he smells evil spirits.
But they realized that Jeok-bong still needs training to use his power properly. However, Ha-na senses two evil spirits, one in the reeds and one in the museum. Jang-mul and Mae-ok decide to go to the museum thinking it was the weaker one. While the rest head to the reeds.
Jeok-bong is confused about this decision and So-mun notices him, he tells Jeok-bong that he can say whatever he thinks. And Jeok-bong tells him that he is not sure if the ones in the reeds are the stronger ones.
True enough, Mae-ok and Jang-mul arrive at the museum only to find out that Pil-gwang and Wong are waiting for them. The fight begins right away and obviously, the level three spirits are too strong for the two Counters to handle. Just when they thought they are losing, So-mun suddenly appear and saves them.
“Thank you. I wanted to see you for one last time. This is the end for you, asshole.”
So-mun and Pil-gwang battles face to face and So-mun was able to create an opening for Mae-ok and Jang-mul to escape only to be stopped by Wong. Good thing, Motak arrives to help them and even the fight. They were able to defeat Wong.
Meanwhile, Ha-na and Jeok-bong arrive in the reeds, they are quickly approached by Gelly. Jeok-bong’s power is not really a big help because Gelly is so fast and she even breaks Jeok-bong’s nose. Without his sense of smell, Gelly easily slashes out Ha-na, several times.
Ha-na concentrates and remembers her lessons with So-mun. She closes her eyes and feels the direction of the wind change where Gelly is coming from. It works and she was able to hit Gelly, leaving her and Jeok-bong in the field.
In the museum, Pil-gwang tortures So-mun holding him up in the air against the wall, but not for long because So-mun uses his power to turn the tables and Pil-gwang suffers the same. But Pil-gwang manages to get a gun and shoots Jang-mul, fortunately, So-mun saves him but gets shot, anyway. Pil-gwang manages to escape.
Mae-ok summons Wong and brings back the spirit of the Counter who lost her life and powers to him. They can’t wait to set free the other Counters too.
Back in their HQ, Jang-mul repremands So-mun’s actions and tells him not to worry about him next time. Jeok-bong still worries about what happened in the reeds thinking that he is of no use to the team.
“You’ve finally met a worthy opponent.”
On the other hand, Pil-gwang and Gelly are both annoyed by their loss. Gelly is obsessed to kill Ha-na while Pil-gwang can’t wait to get So-mun’s power.
In prison, Joo-seok is haunted by the demon he mistakenly called because he is infuriated. The next day, So-mun sees the letter left by Jeok-bong telling he is going back to his hometown and will no longer be a Counter.
The team decides to go to his house and get him back. They try to persuade him but to no avail, because he thinks he lost his power. The Counters were not able to bring him back with them. However, they decide to give it another try, but this time, only So-mun and Ha-na goes to get Jeok-bong back.
Jeok-bong goes to the village’s chief house when he sees that an evil spirit has taken over the chief son’s body and trying to kill him. He tries to fight him and he is hit in the face, then he realizes that he regains his power. This time, he really fights back to win against the evil spirit and So-mun and Ha-na witness this incident.
Jeok-bong successfully defeats the evil spirit and performs his first summon. He decides to return as a Counter. Meanwhile, Pil-gwang and Gelly are eating together, when Gelly tells him that she saw Min-ji in Ha-na’s memory. She also shows an article related to Ma Joo-seok.
On the day of Joo-seok’s trial, the Counters are there to support him. But Joo-seok surprises everyone by saying that he still wishes to kill the person who killed his wife. Pil-gwang then sees that there is something special in Joo-seok.
The Uncanny Counter 2 Episodes 3 and 4 Musings
These episodes show again the significance of So-mun in winning against the evil spirits. Let’s all hope that their trainings will help them become stronger.
Also hoping to see more of what Jeok-bong’s power can offer. It’s hard not to anticipate how his fun character turns into a serious one when he starts to show his true powers. And may he learn to use it properly right away.
It’s just four episodes but we already saw some big and exciting fighting scenes. Wong is gone but maybe next episode, we will finally see Joo-seok join Pil-gwang and Gelly. Inevitably, this will take a blow on So-mun.
Also, Kang Ki Young gets better and better with his character every week. Pil-gwang is just made for him. Obviously, we are rooting for the Counters, but we can’t deny the fact that so far, Pil-gwang also makes this season so interesting.
