Phenomenal actors are named to star in a high-teen fantasy crime drama, about – yes, a cookie!
Hi Cookie tells the story of a homemade cookie that makes dreams come true with just one bite which overwhelmed the best elite high school.
Director Song Min-yeop of Youth of May fame is in charge of the production with a rookie writer penning the script. Notably, the series attracts attention for its aim to release an advanced K-school series with unique materials and unpredictable stories.
Nam Ji Hyun, Choi Hyun Wook, and Kim Mu Yeol plan to portray a group of humans struggling with their desires in a swamp made of handmade cookies, which they thought was a sweet oasis in the desert.
First, Nam Ji Hyun (Suspicious Partner, Shopaholic Louis) takes on the role of Choi Soo-young, a temporary factory worker. Soo-young became the head of the household at the age of 18, dropped out of school, got a job at a factory, and is taking care of her three-year-old younger brother. She voluntarily jumps into the swamp for the sake of her brother.
Through last year’s drama Little Women, she showed intense character play befitting of an actress that can be trusted with any genre. She is expected to bring another lingering portrayal in Hi Cookie.
Next, suiting up to the role Seo Ho-soo is Choi Hyun Wook. Ho-soo is a genius boy who maintains top grades at Jeonghan High School, the best private high school in Korea. Even in a difficult environment, he is steadfastly striving for his studies. But among his rich classmates, he is known as someone who is at their disposal.
From the dramas Racket Boys, Twenty-Five Twenty-One, and Weak Hero Class 1, Choi Hyun Wook has emerged as a rising actor by vaunting a distinct presence in each drama.
In particular, the previous works were hit one after another, and there was even a saying that “If Choi Hyun-wook wears a school uniform, he will do well.” He wears the school uniform once again but will show another face with a character differentiated from the previous work.
Lastly, Kim Mu Yeol (Juvenile Justice) plays Yoo Seong-pil, the best college admissions consultant. Seong-pil is famous for making the dreams of students come true by producing the best results regardless of legal, expedient, or illegal methods. But he holds a cryptic secret.
That’s why he voluntarily visits Jeonghan High School to serve as a consultant for the entire third year. A reliable and respected actor, Kim Mu Yeol shows acting that crosses good and evil regardless of genre or screen. This time he puts on a mystery and plunges into the world of teens. He draws attention to what kind of acting he will explode his shining presence this time.
Production company Arc Media and Monster Union have full confidence in the lead stars.
“They fill in the characters without gaps and will show the meaningful message of the work with the best acting.”
Hi Cookie currently completes pre-production. More details will be unveiled in the future.
