Crash Course In Romance Episode 14 Highlights
Previously, Hae-yi suddenly went missing after speaking with Sun-jae’s mom about the leaked exam.
After getting the garbage bag her mom asked her to buy, she spots Dong-hee stalking their house about to hit someone with a sling and metal ball.
Realizing her presence, Dong-hee subdues Hae-yi and brings her home. When she regains consciousness, she rushes to escape but gets hit by a car.
Hae-yi survives the surgery but is in a coma. When the news reaches her close friends at school, they rush to the hospital. Sun-jae, who overhears the possibility that she wanted to commit suicide because of the exam, is being hounded by guilt.
No matter what he says, his mom is still heartless and remains focused on her dream for her son. He walks away and rides a bus aimlessly.
Affected by Hae-yi’s plight he also almost jumped from the rooftop if not for Geon-hu’s meddling. He tells him how news of his suicide won’t make Hae-yi happy when she wakes up.
Braving his choice, Sun-jae meets his homeroom adviser to confess his involvement in the midterm exam leak.
“I’m not being swayed. I’m changing. I decide my future in this line of work and what I value in life.”
Belatedly learning how Dong-hee has been deciding his career without his knowing, Chi-yeol confronts him.
Still fixated that he is being swayed from his usual hardworking nature because of Haeng-seon, Chi-yeol tells Dong-hui that he is changing and he should be the only person who should be in charge of his life. He also tells him that they can no longer work together.
From there, Chi-yeol proceeds to the police investigation request involving metal balls. Deeming he is not the culprit as described by Hui-jae, the detective asks if he knows Jung Sung-hyun. He turns out to be Su-hyun’s brother.
The same detective also visits Jung’s old residence and learns from the security guard that Sung-hyun is the notorious and mysterious culprit of the metal balls that have been causing problems in the complex.
Later, when Chi-yeol was alone in his house, one of the books caught his attention as he finds a red mark resembling the same stain on Hae-yi’s palm.
To confirm his suspicion, Chi-yeol pretends to make amends with Dong-hee so he can check if he has a calloused thumb. Affirming his conjecture, he secretly follows him to where he lives.
Crash Course In Romance Episode 14 Musings
Dong-hee’s irrational preoccupation with anything that involves Chi-yeol stems from his youth pain of being forced by his mother to study against his will. It further aggravates after his sister’s passing, who had a great relationship with Chi-yeol.
His story ties up to one of the general messages the series has been putting a spotlight on since day 1 – the immense pressure aspiring university students go through. How exasperating it can become especially with parents who prioritize the “future” of their children more than “mental health”.
Sun-jae and Su-a are perfect examples of what saddening outcomes youth can be put on because of too much pressure.
Ahead of the finale week, the series is poised to tackle the aftermath of the exam leak. Based on the preview, Hae-yi is still not safe from Dong-hee. So, hopefully, Chi-yeol can solve the conflict as how he does it flawlessly with Math problems.
